With the children with us we headed out with the promise to take them to swim at Goudini Spa. Linel had been to Bosjes and said the children will have plenty place to play.
Our first stop was Redemption Leather shop outside Wellington.
We travelled the road through Bainskloof pass and later Slanghoek.
The bulk of our day would be spend at Bosjes. THIS IS AN IDYLLIC DESTINATION CELEBRATING AWARD-WINNING ARCHITECTURE.
Various flora creates a tapestry of contrasts – succulents, Renosterveld, indigenous forest and water plants, punctuated by a monolithic water sculpture.
The shops and coffee areas as well as the chapel was a hyper modern style against the old Dutch style of the original farm house overlooking the Slanghoek Valley.
The adult friendly children play areas were amazing to say the least. All stops pulled out. Children could be entertained for hours and we got stuck there for quite some time.
We had an appointment with Zoë and Ruan where they were rehabilitating the earthworks around a new dam. They are heading up the development of the permaculture food forest.
We clicked like old friends. They were to happy to show us around. The main focus of the present phase were the swales Kobus did and the planting of a windbreak. They were also rehabilitating the dam wall and Clara showed them pictures of the progress of what we've done on ours. The two young people were a source of knowledge we could tap from. Ruan a botanist and Zoë an expert in Permaculture.
Later we met at Rietdak Padstal for lunch and chatted with them about what we do.
With disappointment we were turned away at Goudini Spa who no longer had day visitors and headed home for an early rest. Linel prepared us delicious butter chicken as the first meal we made ourselves.
Loadshedding made all of us have an early evening.
